Overview

A Sub-sectoral development summit focusing on Library administration and development coupled with Corporate Governance implications will be held in both Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Toronto, Canada. 

Academic librarianship is a people-focused role, requiring individuals to manage learning resources while keeping the library users’ needs in mind. Librarians are team workers with strong management skills and IT competencies providing access to information and resources. They are uniquely known as excellent administrators with organizational and interpersonal skills. Academic librarians are responsible for acquiring, organizing, managing and distributing library resources, and ensuring that library provisions meet the needs of all its users.

This summit is to enhance the understanding and knowledge of electronic access and improve delivery of information in various print and non-print formats for resource sharing, and through these advanced systems, improve academic library research and administrative delivery.

The programme is also designed as a training tool to support decision makers with the requirements needed to build the library of the future in an academic and corporate environment, and to understand the changes that are needed in those institutions in order to make it more effective and efficient.
